You don’t need any experience. Our Free Class and 5-Week Introduction course in Milton (Brisbane) are designed for complete beginners. We teach New York Style Salsa from the ground up—timing, basic steps, connection—so you’ll feel comfortable from Week 1 and build confidence each class.
New York Style Salsa (On2) is a linear, musical style danced “on the 2.” It uses a slot, crisp timing, and smooth body movement. We focus on technique, timing, and partner connection so you can dance socially with confidence at Brisbane salsa nights.
No. Come solo or with a friend. We rotate partners in class so you learn to lead/follow with different people- exactly like real social dancing.
Our Brisbane studio is The Polish Club, 10 Marie St, Milton. Courses start on set dates (Tuesdays & Thursdays evenings). See the timetable for the next 5-week Introduction to Salsa block
Book online on locomojo.dance- choose your course, complete checkout, and arrive for Week 1 at The Polish Club, Milton. You’ll get a confirmation email with what to bring and where to go.
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing you can move in (gym/workout clothes is perfect). Bring a light layer, you’ll warm up quickly.
Any clean, closed-toe shoe with a smooth/light sole is fine. Avoid sticky/rubber soles (they grip too much). Dance shoes are great but not required for beginners.
Just a water bottle and a positive vibe. We supply the rest.
Yes- free onsite parking at The Polish Club, plus free street parking nearby. We’re ~500m from Milton Station and close to buses toward Paddington/Toowong.

Classes run ~50 minutes (which includes social dance time between the classes). Introduction courses run 5 weeks (one class per week). Intermediate/Advanced courses run 10 weeks. Some weeks include optional practice time.
They’re the two roles in partner dance. Anyone can choose either role. Leaders initiate movement; Followers interpret and respond. Many dancers learn both over time.
We run structured 5 week & 10 week blocks. To keep quality high, we don’t accept new joiners after the 2nd week. A new block starts soon - book the next start date.
If places are available, Week 1 door sales are okay—but we recommend booking online to secure your spot (courses often fill).
Starter has no prerequisites. For Improver/Advanced, we list competencies to protect class quality. If you buy and aren’t the right fit, we’ll credit you into a suitable course (no refunds). If unsure, ask us before you book.
Bundles let you take more classes for less in one term.

Adults of all ages (20s to 50s+). We focus on adult classes; please contact us for youth options.
Yes- we host our monthly socials so you can practice what you learn. Ask your instructor or check our Events Page for upcoming socials and events!
Yes- join any of our Free Classes to sample New York Salsa and meet the community before enrolling.
On1 breaks on the first beat; On2 (New York Style) breaks on the second beat for a smoother, more musical feel. We specialize in On2 and can help On1 dancers transition.
