Before you book
Do we both need dance experience?
No. Intro is for complete beginners. We start from the basics and build over five weeks.
Do we have to dance only with each other?
No. Class still rotates partners so you both learn faster. You just enrol and pay together.
What is meant by leader and follower?
The leader initiates movements and guides the follower. The follower responds and adds styling. Both roles matter. Traditionally men lead and women follow, but anyone can pick either.
What is New York Salsa?
New York Salsa (also called Salsa On2 or Mambo) is a smooth, elegant style of salsa that originated in New York City. It's danced "on 2" meaning the break step happens on beat 2, giving it a more musical, sophisticated feel compared to other salsa styles.
Can we do both nights?
This booking is one partnerwork night: Tuesday or Thursday in Milton, or Monday in Newstead. For both nights, use the usual intro page or the group deal.
What should we wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Avoid restrictive jeans or short skirts. For shoes, wear smooth-soled shoes and avoid rubber soles or anything with grip like joggers or running shoes. No open-toed shoes for safety.
How long is each class?
Each class is 45 minutes. The course runs for 5 consecutive weeks on the same day each week. There's also 15 minutes of social dance time between classes.
